BYOD Supports Anytime Plant Access

In recent years, more and more companies are creating policies that allow employees to use their personal devices at work (commonly known as BYOD).  With the increase of automation in manufacturing, the ability for employees to monitor and respond via their personal mobile device is an added convenience which can increase productivity and response time. 

To harness the benefits of using personal devices at work, Progea’s MoviconTM web client allows users to turn their iPhone, iPad or Android into an engineering tool and operational dashboard.

After logging on, all of the employee’s work and all intellectual property remains securely on the server side, not on the employee’s personal device. Movicon Web Client uses a thin client, enabling the entire application to reside and be processed on the server. This centralizes information for easy and low cost system management and maintenance.

Users who choose to receive event notifications by phone, can connect immediately to their plant system to get information on tags, alarms, historicals and even display and with proper a uthentication can interact with screens from anywhere, anytime.

As seen below, the graphical screen representations are shown in their ‘true colors’ and graphics are automatically adjusted to the client’s resolutions or to the size of the browser window.
